Left Sweden because of money and because Uncle Martin was in the U.S. Alfred first worked in logging camp with brother Martin. Mother Ida spoke half English and half Swedish. Aunt Olga says she remembers her brother Albin (Roy) wearing a little sailor cap. He played with her son Don, who was five years younger. When the Rosbergs immigrated from Sweden, their name was changed by immigration officers from Rosberg to Swanson. When Alfred and his family earned their citizenship in about 1924, he changed their name back to Rosberg. Alfred's brother, Martin, kept the Swanson name.

"Obit from Blaine Journal, Oct. 11, 1923 Mrs. Angeline Gotchy Passes Mrs. Angeline Gotchy passed into the Great Beyond Sunday morning, following a paralytic stroke of a few days before. Funeral arrangements are being delayed until word can be had from the two sons who are in Alaska, but it is expected that they will arrive by Saturday. Mrs. Gotchy was born in Detroit, Mich., July 1, 1839, and was married to Joseph Gotchy at Warren, Mich., Oct. 4, 1854. Mr. Gotchy died some 30 years ago. To this union nine children were born, of whom seven are left to mourn the passing of a dear and faithful mother. They are Elmer of this city, Mrs. Belle Duranceau and Mrs. Frank [Elsie] Bice, also of this city, William of Olympia, Mrs. Rose Lewis of Anacortes, Joe and Albert, now in Alaska. Mrs. Gotchy came to Blaine 25 years ago with her children and had spent all the intervening years either in the city or its immediate vicinity."
