The only evidence I have, so far, that Samuel is the brother of David is the 1870 census listing him as a member of the same household, and that he, like David, was born in Pennsylvania. He's too old to be a son, and he's listed after all of David's children, so I assume, since he has the same last name and same birthplace, that he's a brother.
