David's two older sons' 1910 census listing shows a maternal birthplace of Pennsylvania. David's wife at the time was born in Ireland, and their baby's census listing likewise shows a maternal birthplace of Ireland. It's therefore assumed that David W. had a first wife who died after the birth of her second son. there is a seven+-year gap between the birth of that son and David's newest child. It may be, though, that David and the first wife were divorced. Don't have any documentation yet either way.

Presumably, given Mary's date of birth (identical to that of David W.'s other son Leslie) and the fact that she doesn't show up in the 1910 census, Mary E. is David's stepdaughter, and Estella was previously married. On the other hand, Mary is a full decade younger than her brother Oliver, so she may be a biological child of David and Estella. I have no information on whether David was widowed by, or divorced from, his second wife. But the fact that Mary was born in the same year as Leslie, while David was married to Leslie's mother, may be an indication that there was a divorce.
