In 1717 hebought over 200 acres of land on the easterly side of Mulberry-MeadowBrook, afterwards called Leach's Stream, and became a resident thereeither that year or next. In 1720 he was selctman for the East Precinctof Norton, now Easton. His house was probably built in 1717 and is theoldest house standing in town. An addition to it was made at a laterdate. It was used as an inn as early as 1724, Josiah Keith then being alicensed inn keeper. Not long after settling Keith built a saw mill whichwas in operation by 1724. That year he was involved in a lawsuitconcerning "Sawing sundry planks, bords, and other timber at his sawmillnear his now dwelling house." The location of this mill may still be seenwest of Edward D. Williams' house [1886]. He died 4 February 1754.
